David Bailey Furniture Systems is to manufacture and supply a broad range of fitted furniture for the refurbishment and upgrade of Navigation Road Primary School in Cheshire, a primary and nursery school for boys and girls aged three to eleven.
All the furniture specified is from David Bailey’s Education range, specifically designed and developed to meet the diverse demands of a busy learning environment. The furniture will be fitted in the junior, infant and reception classrooms, as well as the nursery area, kitchen, staff room, caretaker’s room and the food technology room.
Items include a range of units to provide adequate storage, such as triple-based storage trays, with a general colour scheme throughout the premises of light pine. This is teamed with 40mm post formed charcoal coloured laminate worktops. For safety purposes, ‘D’ type handles have also been used.
“We really like the range, quality and choice of furniture offered by David Bailey Furniture Systems for schools. The completed project will create a clean, streamline environment for both pupils and teachers,” said David Whitehead of Ansell & Bailey, who specified David Bailey for the project.
When designing furniture for schools, David Bailey includes many safety features, such as recessed and ‘D’ handles and cupboard doors that open completely back on themselves, allowing them to ‘give’ if someone runs into them. In addition, exposed edges of doors can be melamine edged to ensure a smooth finish. Alternatively, a 2mm PVC edging can be used to eliminate sharp corners on doors and drawers.
“We are delighted to work on another school job. Our Education range of fitted furniture has never failed to impress, while our bespoke furniture designs help achieve the best solution for all applications,” commented Trevor Gillman, managing director of David Bailey Furniture Systems.Case study date: February 19, 2014
