David Bailey Furniture Systems has supplied fitted furniture to the value of £109,665 to Milestone School in New Ash Green, Kent, which caters for children with profound, severe and complex learning difficulties.
Trevor Gillman, Managing Director of David Bailey, commented: “We are noticing an increase in enquiries for special educational needs school furniture. In these environments, we understand that strong, durable and robust furniture is of the utmost priority to head teachers in order to ensure the safety of their pupils, which is why David Bailey is a popular choice.”
The three-stage furniture installation was managed by main contractors R J Barwick Construction Services Limited, which specified a variety of fitted furniture from David Bailey’s Education furniture range.
Severe Learning Difficulties Classroom Furniture
All the classrooms were fitted with white fixed wall-hung and floor-mounted units and red, green and blue worktops and handles were chosen to define the different Key Stage departments. Slopping shelving with timber lipping was introduced as an additional built-in safety feature.
Other areas of the severe learning difficulties school to benefit from the furniture installation were the IT rooms, science department, speech and language rooms, art and clay rooms, food technology kitchens and the staff rooms.
To complete this severe learning difficulties furniture installation, David Bailey and R J Barwick worked with SDA architects.
