Education furniture at Dog Kennel Hill Primary & Rokesly Infants
Rokelsy Infant School furniture
At Rokesly Infant School, which has over 300 pupils aged three to seven, the furniture is being fitted in nine classrooms, food bay, staff room, welfare room, general office, ICT room, photocopier room, SEN/rap/ groups, cleaners’ room, and group room.
It includes units, worktop, shelving and a special coathanger unit for each classroom, which consists of a long, open wall unit with coat hooks fitted underneath. The furniture is made from a grey MFC carcass with PVC-edged doors and drawers, and a laminated plinth. Each room has been finished in a different colour. Worktops are 40mm post-formed laminate and 40mm bullnose laminate with a beech fascia.
Dog Kennel Hill Primary School furniture
At Dog Kennel Hill Primary School, specially made furniture, comprising units and worktops with doors fitted to the tray units, was fitted in the art classroom and storeroom. All units have a 160mm laminate-faced plinth, and David Bailey Furniture has also supplied Iroko-type worktops to form benching in the art classroom.
In designing furniture for schools, David Bailey Furniture includes many safety features, such as recessed and ‘D’ handles and cupboard doors that open completely back on themselves, allowing them to ‘give’ if someone runs into them. In addition, exposed edges of doors are edged to ensure a smooth finish.

Education furniture installations
Our specialist education furniture is installed in many schools, colleges and further education facilities. We have recently been selected by main contractor E W Beard to manufacture furniture for Headington Girls School in Oxford, in a £65,000 contract. This will be for 45 units and 100 metres of worktop in 11 classrooms. The work will start in November 2020. Other education customers include:
- Yateley Community School, Hampshire
- Channing School, London
- University of Wales
- Clore Shalom School, Hertfordshire
Architects and Contractors rely on us because they know we are well established and professional and our durable furniture is manufactured in Britain with craftsmanship and professionalism. We also install our own furniture into a facility, so there is no need to ensure a contractor has installation instructions.
School rebuilding programme
Update July 2020: We welcome the recent pledge by the prime minister, Boris Johnson, to provide a £1bn schools rebuilding programme over a 10-year investment plan for upgrades and refurbishments. This is the first major schools rebuilding programme since 2014 and will make sure our schools and colleges are fit for the future. It is part of the prime minister’s plan to provide a world-class education for children and to help the economy bounce back from this year’s coronavirus crisis.
